Loonine vs Loopy Loyalty

Loopy Loyalty and Loonine both put loyalty cards in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, but they enrol customers differently: Loopy Loyalty is built around the customer scanning a QR code, while Loonine has staff enrol customers by typing a phone number, which is faster at a busy counter.

The short version

Loopy Loyalty is the longest-established digital stamp card platform and it is a solid, simple product. It is the safer choice if you want a mature tool with a long track record and you are happy with QR-based sign-up. Loonine is the better choice if enrolment speed at the counter is your bottleneck, or if you operate in the Gulf or need Arabic.

Choose them if: Loopy Loyalty

  • You want the most established option with the longest history
  • Your customers are comfortable scanning a QR code and your queue is not the constraint
  • You want a large body of independent reviews before committing

What Loopy Loyalty does better

  • Longer track record: it effectively created this category
  • Large existing customer base and plenty of third-party reviews
  • Mature, well-documented product with few surprises
  • Strong self-serve onboarding

Choose Loonine if

  • Your counter is busy and sign-up friction is why enrolment is low
  • You operate in the UAE, other Gulf markets, Jordan or Lebanon
  • You need Arabic or French as a first-class language, not a translation layer
  • You want SMS delivery built into enrolment rather than bolted on

Where Loonine is stronger

  • Apps in English, French and full right-to-left Arabic
  • Operates across the GCC and Levant, not just Europe and North America

What is the real difference between Loopy Loyalty and Loonine?

The real difference is who does the work at the moment a customer joins. Loopy Loyalty is built around the customer scanning a QR code, Loonine is built around a staff member typing a phone number. Everything else (both deliver stamp cards to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, both update cards remotely, both let you design a branded card) is broadly comparable.

That single difference matters because enrolment rate is the variable that decides whether a loyalty programme pays for itself. A platform with excellent tooling that enrols a fifth of your customers returns less than a plain one that enrols two thirds.

How much does enrolment friction cost?

A QR scan asks the customer to unlock a phone, open a camera, hold it steady and tap through a page, perhaps twenty to forty seconds at a counter, with a queue behind them. Typing a number takes a few seconds and asks the customer for nothing but the number itself.

The cost is not really the seconds, it is what staff do with them. Once offering the card visibly slows the queue, staff stop offering it during busy periods, and busy periods are when your highest-frequency regulars are being served. The programme then quietly enrols the wrong customers: the ones with time, rather than the ones who come every day.

If your enrolment rate is healthy on Loopy Loyalty, this argument does not apply to you and switching would be a lateral move with a full re-enrolment attached.

Which one has better wallet support?

Neither. Both platforms issue cards to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, both update them remotely, and both push to the lock screen. Wallet capability is table stakes in this category and is not a useful basis for choosing.

Where they differ on the customer-facing side is language. Loopy Loyalty is built for English-speaking markets; Loonine's apps are available in English, French and full right-to-left Arabic, and issues the card in the language of the customer's own phone. If your customers are not comfortable in English, that is a substantive difference rather than a cosmetic one.

What does Loopy Loyalty do better?

Loopy Loyalty has the longer track record, and that is worth more than most feature comparisons admit. It effectively created the digital stamp card category, it carries a large body of independent reviews, and its documentation and onboarding are mature in a way that only comes from years of customers hitting edge cases.

Its integration ecosystem is also further along. If you need the loyalty platform to talk to specific third-party tools, check Loopy Loyalty's list against Loonine's before assuming parity: Loonine offers no POS integration and none are planned, so this is a real gap, not a rounding error.

And if you are spending your own money on an unfamiliar category, being able to read dozens of reviews from businesses like yours is a real form of risk reduction. Loonine is newer and cannot offer that.

Is Loonine cheaper than Loopy Loyalty?

Loonine's paid plans run from €24.99 to €84.99 per month with a free month included, bought and cancelled through the App Store or Google Play. Loopy Loyalty publishes its own pricing and it has changed more than once: check their current page rather than relying on a figure quoted here.

Price is rarely the deciding factor at this end of the market, because both platforms cost less than a few hours of staff time per month. The number worth comparing is cost per enrolled customer, which depends far more on how many customers each platform signs up than on the headline fee.

What does switching involve?

Every customer has to be re-enrolled. Wallet cards are signed with a certificate belonging to the platform that issued them, so they cannot be transferred: this is how Apple and Google secure cards, not a restriction either vendor chose.

The workable approach is to run both systems for six to eight weeks, enrol new customers on the new platform only, and carry each regular's balance across by hand as they come in. Honouring existing balances is the part that protects the relationship: a customer with eight stamps who is told to start at zero experiences the change as a loss.

Which should I choose?

Choose Loopy Loyalty if you want the most established option, your counter is not the constraint, and stamp cards are the only mechanic you need. Choose Loonine if enrolment speed is what is holding your programme back, if you need Arabic or another language properly supported, or if you operate in the Gulf or the Levant where Loopy Loyalty's coverage is limited.

If you are undecided, the cheapest test is to send yourself a card from this page and time it, then do the same with Loopy Loyalty's demo. Ten seconds of each tells you more than any comparison table, including this one.
